MONOCLE launches radio collaboration with Chanel
First episode, on air tomorrow, 2 March 2019, features one of the final interviews recorded with Karl Lagerfeld before the death of the fashion icon
MONOCLE's round-the-clock global radio station, Monocle 24, is collaborating with the French fashion house Chanel on a new series of interviews. For Métier Class some of the top people at the fashion label and its collaborators talk to MONOCLE about their belief in brilliant craftsmanship.
The opening episode – on air tomorrow, Saturday, 2 March – is one of the final interviews recorded with the German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld before his death: a 40-minute conversation between him and MONOCLE's editor-in-chief, Tyler Brûlé, about the essence of Chanel, creating mystery around a brand and his cat, Choupette.
Our other guests on the series are
Bruno Pavlovsky - Chanel's fashion president
Lady Amanda Harlech - creative consultant for Chanel
Pharrell Williams, who is collaborating with Chanel on a collection
Monocle 24 will be running a second programme alongside Métier Class, called Made In France, for which MONOCLE will be visiting the ateliers who make all the different elements of Chanel's clothes – from the goldsmiths to the pleaters, as well as meeting French craftsmen and women from all different industries across the country, and celebrating the very nature of making things by hand.
Métier Class will be released every Saturday on monocle.com from 2 March. Made In France will come out every Sunday from March 3. Both will run for the duration of the month.
