The Sunday Times Charlotte Aitken Young Writer of the Year Award
In 2015, FMcM joined the Sunday Times to relaunch the Young Writer of the Year Award, with generous sponsorship from literary agency PFD, with a mission to spotlight exceptional writers at the beginning of their careers.
Working with former literary editor Andrew Holgate, and most recently with Johanna Thomas-Corr and new sponsors The Charlotte Aitken Trust, our ongoing communications campaign continuously grows the profile, reach and impact of the rebranded The Sunday Times Charlotte Aitken Young Writer of the Year Award to spotlight exceptional writers at the beginning of their careers.
This year we built on the success of our refined design aesthetic and bold positioning for our campaign, which brought together digital advertising, an unmissable outdoor marketing campaign, engaging social media activity, the reinstatement of the shadow judging panel and author-led editorial content. With a wide-reaching media campaign, and refreshed point-of-sale designs for Waterstones, we broadened the award's reach and impact more than ever before. Our bustling winner ceremony, held at Canova Hall in Brixton, welcomed a new generation of publishing professionals and journalists to the prize.
What people said…
‘Throughout the eight or so years we have worked together, FMcM have shouldered a huge burden on the prize. They have been extremely efficient, hugely imaginative and energetic. They just understand prizes really, really well.’
Andrew Holgate, former Sunday Times Literary Editor
