Little Women, His Dark Materials and Queenie announced on shortlist for 2020 CAMEO Awards
The winners will be announced Monday 9 March 2020 in a ceremony at White City House, to launch the 2020 London Book & Screen Week festival.
Event to include a special appearance from London Book & Screen Week Ambassador and Queen of Crime Drama Lynda La Plante
Twelve outstanding shortlistees have been announced today for the fourth annual Creativity Across Media: Entertainment and Originality Awards (CAMEOs). Celebrating books at the heart of the creative industries, the awards recognise the best adaptations across TV, film, stage and audio and this year’s shortlist includes adaptations ranging from nineteenth century classic novels to Philip Pullman’s famed fantasy series.

In a world where stories are being consumed in so many different forms, the CAMEOs showcase the significant contribution books play within the wider creative industries, recognising adaptations that have made the most impact in the last calendar year. Judges base their decisions on criteria including, but not limited to: box office sales; review coverage; critical acclaim; social media profile; industry prize nominations and more.
Expert judges from all sectors of the entertainment industry deliberated across each of the categories. This year’s judges, chaired by Helen Macaleer, are: Philippa Donovan (Smart Quill), Philippa Milnes Smith (Soho Agency), Katrien Roos (Harbottle and Lewis), John Lomas (Bullivant/Kickback Media), Hayley Steed (Madeleine Milburn Agency), Colin Williams (Sixteen South), Videl Bar Kar (Bookwire), Jessica Maslen (Blair Partnership), Tamsin Collison, Julia Posen, Charlotte Longstaff (Ambassador Group), Rina Gill (RGM Productions).
The ceremony on 9th March will include an appearance from Queen of Crime Drama and London Book & Screen Week Ambassador Lynda La Plante, who is the international bestselling author of over 30 novels and BAFTA-winning scriptwriter behind shows include Prime Suspect and Widows.
The CAMEO Awards mark the start of this year’s London Book & Screen Week (9-15 March 2020), kickstarting the seven day series of events celebrating books and the films, TV programmes and virtual worlds they inspire.
