An exciting new middle grade series of six books bringing The World Of Supersaurs to children around the world! 

Author, artist and former BBC children’s TV presenter Jay Jay Burridge has been obsessed with dinosaurs since his early childhood visits to the Natural History Museum, and it’s a captivation he shares with many. From the age of 1 to the age of 80, we never grow out of our fascination with dinosaurs. And now, Jay Jay has created Supersaurs, an epic, global adventure series, which asks the question “What would the world look like if dinosaurs never died out, but had survived and evolved?”

The series has its own publishing imprint, called Supersaurs Publishing, a new children’s imprint under Bonnier Zaffre.

So when Bunty, Bea’s formidable grandmother, and Theodore, her godfather, suddenly decide on an exotic trip to the remote Indonesian islands of Aru, to see the elusive Raptors of Paradise, Bea starts asking questions. And the more questions she asks, the more trouble comes their way. What is Christian Hayter, a saur trader, hiding? And who is the wild boy in the forest who keeps coming to their aid?  Was the journey to the islands a dangerous mistake, or is it the beginning of the adventure of a lifetime?

Raptors of Paradise is illustrated throughout with magnificent black-and-white artwork, brought to life by an innovative augmented reality app. The world of Supersaurs is a world set to fire the imagination of children and adults alike; anyone, young and old, who has ever held a fascination with the magic of dinosaurs.  

JAY JAY BURRIDGE

Jay Jay Burridge studied Fine Art Sculpture at Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design. For his degree show he made a forty foot long, self-assembled dinosaur skeleton out of MDF.

After graduating in 1994, he took over from the legendary children's TV presenter Tony Hart writing and co-presenting the TV art show SMart for the BBC. This grew into three spin-off series and touring live shows. After 8 years with the BBC, Jay turned his attention to a career in commercial art for brands such as Sony, Adidas, and Levis. It was not long before he started up his own custom-made deluxe trucker cap brand, Lucky Seven Caps.

In the Summer of 2010 he returned to his favourite dinosaurs and exhibited his supersaurs sculptures in a one man show in Beverly Hills, LA. The enormous 80,000 square-foot space was filled with 15 full-sized supersaurs. With his friend Jamie Oliver, he co-created the pop up “Dinersaur Diner”, situated in the heart of Piccadilly Circus.

Jay lives in Oxfordshire with his family.
