The Sunday Times Charlotte Aitken Young Writer of the Year Award

In 2015, FMcM joined the Sunday Times to relaunch the Young Writer of the Year Award, with generous sponsorship from literary agency PFD, with a mission to spotlight exceptional writers at the beginning of their careers.

Working with former literary editor Andrew Holgate, and most recently with Johanna Thomas-Corr and new sponsors The Charlotte Aitken Trust, our ongoing communications campaign continuously grows the profile, reach and impact of the rebranded The Sunday Times Charlotte Aitken Young Writer of the Year Award to spotlight exceptional writers at the beginning of their careers.

This year we took the opportunity to explore a new aesthetic and bold positioning as our campaign brought together digital advertising, engaging social media activity, progressive brand initiatives including a new relationship with Moleskine. Our refreshed point-of-sale designs for Waterstones made a visual impact throughout the shortlist stage, and a revitalised winner ceremony, held at the Peckham Skylight, welcomed a new generation of publishing professionals and journalists to the prize.

What people said…

‘Throughout the eight or so years we have worked together, FMcM have shouldered a huge burden on the prize. They have been extremely efficient, hugely imaginative and energetic. They just understand prizes really, really well.’

Andrew Holgate, former Sunday Times Literary Editor
