The British Book Awards

In 2017 FMcM joined leading industry publication The Bookseller to relaunch their integrated publishing trade and consumer awards, The British Book Awards.

We have achieved high profile national broadcast and print coverage for the book awards having overcome some media resistance to a perceived industry initiative.

Our ongoing consultancy combines a dynamic national media campaign for Books of the Year, with highly visible mainstream coverage, a suite of premium media partnerships, VIP judges and presenters, with high-impact local and regional campaigns for Independent Bookshop and Small Press of the Year.

This year’s ceremony captured world-wide attention, with Salman Rushdie’s pre-recorded acceptance speech for the Freedom to Publish award reaching more than 100 international news outlets.

What people said…

‘FMcM are integral to The British Book Awards, from the early stage planning to the awards night and follow-up PR. This is a complicated event and the team running the comms needs to have a 360° view over the opportunities and challenges that come with it. FMcM's contribution has developed as the awards has grown: the team's focus, breadth, insight and perspective are a big reason The British Book Awards has become such a successful event and showcase for the book trade.’
