Dulwich Books secure rare double visit from REBEL GIRLS authors for World Book Day
Award-winning indie bookshop Dulwich Books has secured a rare double visit from the authors of bestselling Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls to celebrate World Book Day, Thursday 1st March 2018. In the UK for the launch of the second edition of their phenomenally successful book, Francesca Cavallo and Elena Favilli will meet children from local schools for events organised in partnership with the Southwark Schools' Learning Partnership.
The authors will visit St Michael’s Catholic College, Bermondsey and The Charter School, Dulwich where they will speak to children, answer questions and sign copies of their book. This will be followed by a public book signing at Dulwich Books.
The first volume of Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls was published in March 2017, and fast became an international publishing sensation, selling over one million copies worldwide, with a copy sold in the UK every two minutes.
Following on from the first edition, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls 2 (Timbuktu, 28 February 2018) includes 100 more tales about women who have changed the world, many of which were put forward by readers following the publication of Volume 1. Written in the style of a bedtime story, each is beautifully illustrated by a female artist and highlights the incredible achievements of women past and present.
The extraordinary women featured in this volume come from every field imaginable, and every corner of the globe. Famous contemporary names such as Oprah Winfrey, J.K. Rowling, Beyoncé, Ellen Degeneres, Angela Merkel, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Billie Jean King sit alongside historic pioneers as varied as Mata Hari, Sappho, Boudicca, Georgia O’Keefe, Mary Kingsley, Mary Seacole, Nefertiti and Mary Shelley.
Organised for World Book Day, this is one of a regular series of events at Dulwich Books that form part of the MILD group’s Live Lit programme, also including two annual literary festivals.
