Kantar Information is Beautiful Awards seek 2017’s best ‘data detectives’

The Kantar Information is Beautiful Awards return for their sixth year to celebrate the world’s best data visualisations, infographics, interactives and information art.

The Awards, founded as a collaboration between data journalist David McCandless, author of Information is Beautiful, and Kantar, highlight the role of infographics & data visualisation in uncovering insights and increasing understanding in our complex, data-driven world.

A new categorisation is introduced in 2017, with judging criteria pivoting to subject matter from type of visualisation. The eight new categories are Arts, Corporate, Current Affairs, Environments, Humanitarian, Science, Sports, and for everything outside the box: Unusual.

The 2017 Awards will be judged by a diverse panel of over 30 judges, including leading experts from each category subject area, visualisation artists, and past winners. Additionally, there will be a public vote, which opens on 10 October, with a community of over 300,000 helping to decide winners.

“Around the world, designers, coders, researchers and journalists are creating graphics & interactives that shine light on everything from immigration and climate change to crime rates and relationships. We are honoured to showcase such illuminating, interesting and innovative work at the Information is Beautiful Awards.”
— David McCandless

Thanks to the generous support of Kantar, $20,000 in prizes will be awarded to data visualisation creators from around the world. The winners will be unveiled at the annual awards ceremony in London at the end of November. Please get in touch for early media accreditation for this event.

“The combination of pin-sharp data and beautiful visuals creates an incredibly powerful tool to help people and companies uncover insights and make better decisions. We hope the Kantar Information is Beautiful Awards can help bring this art & science to as wide an audience as possible.”
— Emma Whitehead, Creative Director at Kantar
