The MILD Group has today announced the appointment of Alexander Spears as Sales and Marketing Manager at The Indigo Press, its new publishing house launched last October.
Alexander joins the press with ten years’ experience in independent publishing, including marketing, editorial and digital roles at Pluto Press, Constable & Robinson, Elliot & Thompson and Walker Books. He was co-founder of Dodo Ink, where he published cross-genre fiction including Seraphina Madsen’s Dodge and Burn, Monique Roffey’s The Tryst and Neil Griffiths’s As a God Might Be. Alexander has a particular interest in digital publishing technologies, including eBooks and apps.
Commenting on his new role, Alexander said: “I am delighted to be joining The Indigo Press, the most exciting new publishing venture of the past decade. I look forward to building sales and distribution partnerships domestically and internationally, and to marketing Indigo’s groundbreaking, global list to a global audience.”

Alexander will work alongside Publishing Director Ellah Wakatama Allfrey and a well-established group of colleagues and consultants handling functions including production and design, PR and social media, including freelance art direction from Michael Salu.
The Indigo Press is headed up by CEO Susie Nicklin and benefits from the support and expertise of the wider MILD group including international rights specialists The Marsh Agency, award-winning independent bookshop Dulwich Books, and its successful events programme—Live Lit—which includes two annual literary festivals.
The first titles from The Indigo Press will publish later this year.
